Soup for Supper!

Insider's Viewpoint: Expert Supermarket Advice: Soup for Supper! Shari Steinbach, Meijer. Fruits And Veggies More Matters.org

What could be better than a bowl of hot soup on a cold winter day? It’s one of the most nutritious, budget-friendly dishes you can prepare for your family. Our recipe below uses a variety of canned vegetables that are convenient, economical and loaded with disease-fighting antioxidants that are also good for the heart.

Many people think their fruit and veggie servings have to be fresh, but vegetables are canned within hours of being picked and nutrients are well preserved away from air or light. You can be assured that canned veggies provide significant nutrients that are close at hand and ready to eat.
