The combination of the rhubarb’s tang balances the sweetness of apples for a great addition to breakfast or snack time. Stir into yogurt or oatmeal for a flavor boost!
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine chopped rhubarb, apples, water, and brown sugar and cinnamon (if using).
- Bring the liquid to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fruit is soft and broken down.
- Use a potato masher for a chunky texture, or blend using a blender or immersion blender a for smooth applesauce.
- Let cool, then refrigerate up to 1 week or freeze for later enjoyment.
