When you think of summer drinks, what comes to mind? Iced tea, lemonade, a refreshing cocktail or mocktail? These are all great options but, in my opinion, one of the most underrated summer drinks is a SMOOTHIE! Not only are smoothies cool and refreshing, it’s also a great way to squeeze in an extra serving (or two!) of fruits and veggies! And with summer bringing more outdoor celebrations and entertainment, what better way to up your porch party than with a smoothie bar?!

Now you may be asking, “Thu, what is a smoothie bar?”. Well, let me show you!

First, prep your ingredients. Choose your favorite fruits and vegetables! I love choosing produce that is in-season but some of my favorites include: berries, mangos, pineapple, spinach, carrots, and cauliflower! Give them a good wash, cut them into pieces, and put into bowls (or a muffin tin for easy clean-up!). And don’t forget that you can use frozen fruit too for a thicker, creamier texture!

Next, blend! Add your liquid of choice—milk, plant-based milk, or water! If you’re lucky enough to have one of those single-serve blender cups, let your guests create their own concoctions! Or you can whip up some pre-determined blends (like a berry blend, a carrot and spinach blend, and a mango and pineapple blend) and have your guests spoon a couple scoops from each to make their own smoothie! I chose this option so my kiddos can make their own “unicorn smoothies”!

Last, enjoy! The great thing about a smoothie bar is that it’s completely customizable to your preferences, it’s refreshing, and it’s perfect for all ages! Here’s to fruit, veggies, and summertime fun!
