It’s all too common that many of us crave something sweet after a savory dinner. Make a simple swap and choose something fruit based for dessert!

Why fruit? There are many nutritional benefits to fruit like fiber, vitamin C, antioxidants and water! It also contains natural sugar that can curb your craving for a sweet treat at night. Subbing fruit for something like a chocolate bar, ice cream or baked goods will be lower in calories and adding healthy fats like peanut butter and protein like Greek yogurt will add to the fullness factor.

Try some of these recipes next time you get a case of the cravings!

Apple Nachos

Core 1 apple and cut in half through the core. Slice the apple into very thin wedges and arrange in a single layer on a large plate. Drizzle 1-2 Tb peanut butter over the top and sprinkle chocolate chips or crushed walnuts for an additional treat. Enjoy!

Chocolate-Dipped Peanut Butter Banana Sandwiches

Slice banana into coins. Spread peanut butter on half of the coins and use the other half of the coins to top them like a sandwich. Then, stick each with a fork or toothpick and dip halfway into melted chocolate. Place dipped bananas onto parchment paper and freeze for 30 minutes to allow chocolate to harden. Remove from freezer and enjoy!

Berry “Fro-Yo”

In a food processor or blender, add 1 c frozen berries, ½ c vanilla Greek yogurt and 1 tsp honey. Pulse until well blended and scoop into bowl. The consistency should be thick like frozen yogurt and able to be eaten with a spoon. Enjoy!
