As a nurse, how do I get my patients to embrace changing their diets?

Answer

Change is hard for many people and what works to motivate one person may not work for the next person. Continue to educate individuals on the benefits of consuming a healthy diet and exercise and refer them to a dietitian in their area for individualized dietary support. Suggest small changes at first, one or two little things can have a great impact on health. Also, provide them with evidence based health websites in case they are interested in information or healthy recipes, but not yet ready to meet with a dietitian.
