What is the difference between a fruit and a vegetable?
Answer
Botanically, fruits contain seeds and vegetables do not. However, from the culinary perspective fruits are considered sweet or tart and are often consumed as a snack or dessert. Vegetables are more savory in flavor and often eaten as or with a main course. Some fruits such as squashes, cucumbers and tomatoes actually fall into the vegetable category because of their flavor and usage in cooking.
