Invite Fruits & Veggies to Your Next Party!

Football season is in full effect and whether you are an avid fan or a casual observer, there is nothing like a good game to bring people together (or in some cases, divide the room!). But even if you aren’t cheering for the same team, we can all agree that food takes the center stage!

Who can wait until kickoff to start munching? I certainly can’t! So while your guests are reviewing stats, tossing the pigskin around or placing some “friendly bets”, this is the perfect time to warm up with pre-game nibblers. Save prep time by buying pre-cut items such as cut broccoli, carrot chips, celery sticks and zucchini slices. And since the summer is behind us, save some cash by grabbing frozen fruits like berries, mango and pineapples to make your own fruit plate.

With the excitement building, most fans aren’t ready to take their eyes off the TV. Keep bowls of baked kale chips handy. Three ingredients: kale, olive oil and sea salt. After a few minutes in the oven, you will have a crunchy, salty snack to keep the team fueled and happy!

Half Time
Sure it’s fun to eat pizza, wings, and burgers, but probably not for 17 weeks! Lighten up the menu with some simple swaps and toppings:

  • The trend to blend; prepare homemade sliders by using lean ground beef and finely diced mushrooms (also a great way to enjoy a dose of vitamin D!)
  • Go forkless; ditch the bread and LET-TUCE wrap it up with some leafy greens! How about some diced chicken lettuce wraps, topped with pico de gallo and avocado.
  • Set and forget; slow cookers are a wonderful tool to use so the chef doesn’t have to stand in the kitchen all game. Chilis are a fan favorite and an easy way to get extra veggies in! Tomatoes, onions, peppers, carrots, zucchini, corn and more!

Game Over
Well that’s a wrap, another game in the books. Whether it’s a win or a loss, send your guests off with a sweet ending; Pineapple Passion Fruit Pizza will make everyone smile!
