Is healthy fiber lost when making smoothies or juicing?
Answer
Only if the fiber is removed from the juice/smoothie is it useless; the actual physical process of blending does not make the fiber useless. It is recommended that only about half of your fruit come from juice or in the form of a beverage so that you maximize fiber (since most juices have removed the fiber) and minimize calories (since it’s easier to drink juice than to eat the food, one can more easily overconsume calories.)
