I’ve heard and seen on labels that tomatoes should be unrefrigerated. I know they are more flavorful and ripen as well as over ripen quickly. But is their any other reason for such a claim? By the way, I have been juicing and have a good recipe for Avocado and oranges (1 to 5 cnt) in blender. Also I grow wheat grass but do not have a “wheat grass” juicer. So I have been adding kiwi, hand FULL of wheat grass, 1/2 avocado and oj in blender-tastes great in my opinion. Sometimes I add green tea and flax oil. To thicken sometimes I add ice and raw oatmeal and blend real good. Another good recipe is for a smoothie- 1 apple, 1 banana, flax oil, 1/2 cup raw oatmeal and cinnamon. Apple juice, ice blend well. Sometimes I add Whey protein powder. P.S. don’t forget my tomatoes question. Thank you. P.S. I also like to play around and plant seeds of the stuff I eat. They usually grow and when I lived I Florida they actually produced, such as papaya, avocado and of course the tangerines, oranges and grapefruit. Here in IL. The next thing I am going to try from seed is Strawberries? I shall see!

The reason that tomatoes should not be refrigerated is that the taste and texture deteriorate once they are chilled. If they will spoil before you use them, it’s better to refrigerate them once they are really ripe, but know that the quality might not be exactly the same.
